The Women's United
Soccer Association (WUSA) suspended operations five days before the start
of the FIFA Women's World Cup. All eight teams: Atlanta, Boston, Carolina,
New York, Philadelphia, San Diego and Washington DC, and San Jose Cyber Rays
have shut down until further notice.
Players are currently
awaiting word if the 2004 season will take place. At this point a reduced
schedule looks like the most likely option.
Fans who wish to
show their support can go to the WUSA website
and sign the online
petition.
