Unlike Monica Seles (another teen wonderplayer who
went through some rough times early) Jennifer Capriati's problems were
self-inflicted.
While Monica was dealt
a knife in the back, Capriati hit bottom at 18 with equally deadly personal
problems, culminating in her arrest for marijuana possession in
1994. |
It took her a few years to
regain focus and self-confidence, but has now returned full force to the
tour. She hit the weights and began her comeback in 1996, and with her strong
new look has secured her share of late-round finishes.
